Christmas Concert

The annual Christmas concert was the first major test for Mr. Pontiere. The new music director had taken over for Mrs. Charlton in the middle of the first semester, and anyone could see on December 16th that he enjoys what he does. However, the focus still remained on showcasing the students’ talents.

The concert was fun for everyone and clearly a success, despite a few technical difficulties. The band opened the night and persevered even when the lights went out. They tried to continue playing in the darkness, but luckily the lights were quickly restored and they finished their set like nothing had happened. Ivy Novakowski then had a captivating cello solo.

Next was a new addition to the lineup: Jazz Band. Led by Mr. Monty, it consisted of a few talented and eager students and was a pleasant surprise for everyone. Show Choir was as entertaining as always, despite difficulty with the microphones, with choreography by Dominique Murray. Honors Chorus included Scripture readings between the songs that reminded everyone of the true meaning of the holidays. A Christmas carol sing-along with the audience closed the show, inviting everyone to celebrate the spirit of the season.
