Around late January, I polled some teachers and students regarding their opinion on who they thought would win Charger Challenge, the annual OLSH fundraising campaign. It seemed that the general consensus was that the freshmen would win.
The freshmen had an amazing start, raising almost $10,000 in the first week, but in a shocking turn of events the sophomores would take the win after raising $46,107, almost $10,000 ahead of the freshmen who ended up raising a still impressive $36,610.
The juniors would take third place raising $25,078, and the seniors last place raising $15,325. Out of the 15 teachers I interviewed, only one person voted for the sophomores, Mr. Rodgers. Almost all of the teachers thought the freshmen would win. Here are some comments from some of the teachers I interviewed regarding the Charger Challenge:
“It’s the freshmen who usually have the most energy when it comes to Charger Challenge.” – Mr. McCarren
“I appreciate what Charger Challenge does for our school, it gives a lot of kids different opportunities to learn here at OLSH.” – Mrs. Wallover
“It’s a great way for students to invest in OLSH’s future” – Mrs. Turnbull
So in the end, some predictions were bold, but only one was accurate. Congratulations to Mr. Rodgers on the winning prediction!
