There are some changes in store for two North Hills Chick-Fil-A’s.
The McKnight Road Chick-fil-A–located between the Toyota dealership and First National Bank–is currently closed for renovations. The Cranberry Chick-Fil-A–which is located between Smokey Bones and DeBella Subs– is also closed for the same reasons. Both of these locations are expecting some upgrades.
Almost every Chick-Fil-A in the Pittsburgh area has been closing for remodels these past few months. Robinson, Greensburg, and North Fayette are just a few that closed temporarily but are now reopening.
The only restaurants not remodeling–such as Wexford–previously had their drive-throughs and insides expanded, so there is no reason for them to close for the month.
The reason for this expansion is straightforward. According to Chick-fil-A’s website, “To address capacity issues, a restaurant may undergo remodeling to transform its kitchen with an enhanced design, allowing half the kitchen staff to respond to drive-thru orders, and the other half to serve in-restaurant customers…If a restaurant is undergoing construction to add a second drive-thru lane, canopies, heaters, misters and lights may be added so Team Members can work outside comfortably”.
These renovations have been occurring since Chick-fil-A is getting more popular by the day. There needs to be more room to accommodate guests inside, but also to keep the line outside moving as well.
According to OLSH librarian Mrs Cvitkvoic, “I feel like they are losing a lot of business and disappointing people by being closed. I am however very excited about the new upgrades”.
These renovations are only changing the inside and the drive-through. The outside of the building is staying relatively the same. Some walls may be taken out to accommodate the new renovations.
Both the Cranberry and McKnight Chick-Fil-As will open at the start of November.
