Mr. Wojtechko is one of the newest members of the OLSH staff. The Clarion sat down with him for a quick Q & A to get to know him better.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from Crescent Township, and was born in Pittsburgh.
Q: Did you have any siblings?
A: Yes–I have one older brother and one younger brother; both are OLSH alumni.
Q: What activities did you do growing up?
A: I liked to film short videos/ films with my brothers. I also liked to read, ride my bike, write music, and do theater.
Q: What school did you go to?
A: I went to St. Joseph’s school in Coraopolis, then to OLSH for high school.
Q: What do you do here at OLSH?
A: I do two different parts: I work with Jess Cerchiaro as a video content creator, and I also do advertisements, like the Mission and Heritage Week video. I am also the co-moderator on WCHR, and work with students on video projects.
Q: Have you always wanted to work with technology?
A: Yes–when it comes to making videos, I have always liked to make videos.
Q: What college did you go to?
A: I went to St. Vincent College in Latrobe. I graduated with a dual degree in Communications and English.
Q: What do you find the most interesting about your job?
A: I really like telling stories. I like the opportunity and challenge to help find a unique and interesting angle to present it.
Q: Why did you want to come back to OLSH?
A: I had a lot of opportunities to create with theater and videos while I was a student at OLSH. My teacher, Mr. Mihaloew, retired after I graduated. I was glad to have the opportunity to have a teacher that pushed me, and I want to give the same opportunity to students. I also want to tell the story of OLSH through the videos I make.
Q: Have you made any good memories at OLSH yet since you started working here?
A: Yes! One of the students was working on a video for intramurals, and the audio was not working. It was really cool to use it as an advantage, rather than a disadvantage. Also, as a creator/teacher to have that teaching moment of using bad circumstances to our advantage.
Q: Who would you recommend this kind of job to?
A: This would be good for people who are creative, and for people interested in learning and connecting with people.
Q: What is your favorite part of this job?
A: My favorite part is working with the students, finding projects that challenge them, and helping them to grow in their skills.
We thank Mr.Wojtechko for everything he has done at OLSH so far, and are excited to see his future plans and content he produces! Stop by the WCHR Tech Studio and say hi to him!
