The Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Chicago Blackhawks for their regular-season opener.
It was a generational talent showdown with Sidney Crosby vs Conner Bedard, the 1st overall pick of the 2023 entry draft. Even the coaches were excited about this lineup.
According to Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan “He’s a bright young player that will inevitably emerge as a superstar,” Sullivan said. “With Sid being our leader, that’s a great narrative for hockey.”
The Penguins opened the scoring with Bryan Rust scoring with assists from Kris Letang and Lars Eller. The second goal came from Sidney Crosby with Jake Guentzel and Marcus Petterson’s assists. This was the end for goals from Pittsburgh as Chicago took the game and scored four in a row.
According to OLSH principal Mr. Plocinik, “I was so disappointed to see the penguins lose the same way again as they did last year.”
Mr. Plocinik was not the only one who felt this way. OLSH Senior Catherine Hutsky “It was sad to watch them lose. Hopefully they can bounce back for their next game against the Capitals”.
Some good that came out of this opener was the Penguin’s big stars are still playing well. The older players are also showing that their talent isn’t going anywhere.
The Penguins take a trip to Washington D.C to face their rivals the Washington Capitals.
