The OLSH Girls Cross Country team is having an excellent season so far!
From winning their section to winning the last race they ran at Mingo Creek, they have had many excellent performances this fall.
The girls have been working hard and putting in a lot of work to get what they are today. Winning their section was not easy. They had some of the top teams in WPIAL’s like Eden Christian and Winchester Thurston. They also had Quaker Valley, which is a double A team, meaning it is a bigger school compared to OLSH’s smaller 13 girl team.
A typical week for the girls without a race would consist of three running workouts. The rest of the days are long distance recovery runs with core work and at least a two minute plank. The girls almost always have Sundays off.
The team works hard together, pushing each other in practices and races. Sophomore Katelyn Miller says she likes the fun atmosphere. “I like how the teea is like one big family, and how practice is fun, even on hard workout days.”
Freshman Lindsay Bressler agrees that the team is a supportive family. “I like how everyone on the team is kind.”
The girls have WPIAL’s on Thursday October 26,2023. We cannot wait to see what amazing things they are able to do!
