Peanuts, the Movie
December 17, 2015
The much-anticipated Peanuts Movie came out on November 6. As expected, the film was as incredibly cute as the comic strip it was based on. It follows the misadventures of social outcast Charlie Brown as he tries to win the heart of the new girl in his neighborhood, who has beautiful red hair. Along the way, he is aided by his baby sister Sally, best friend Linus, and dog Snoopy. He is also bullied by the mean girl Lucy, who is Linus’ older sister. A number of other beloved characters from the comics make appearances as well, such as Peppermint Patty, a tomboy who has a crush on Charlie Brown, her nerdy sidekick Marcie, the dirty PigPen, and the piano playing Schroder. The film certainly was good, and extremely happy and kid-friendly; however, the plot could have been better, and more supporting characters could have been incorporated to make the story more interesting. All-in-all, however, it was an adorable film that was absolutely delightful to watch, especially the scenes with Snoopy and Woodstock. Just as Charlie Brown was trying to win the heart of the little red haired girl, Snoopy was trying to win the heart of the beautiful poodle Fifi. In his imagination, we see him flying on top of his doghouse, searching for the love of his life with his trusty bird pal, Woodstock. Anyone who loved watching the Peanuts as a child will absolutely adore this light-hearted film, and will love revisiting their favorite characters!
