Spotlight: New Teacher
Allan J. Pontiere known as Mr. Pontiere. Born and raised in Robinson Township, and also graduated from Montour High School. He is the current music teacher at OLSH. He received his B.S. in Music Education from Edinboro University as well as a Masters in Education from Duquesne University. After 34 years of teaching in the music department at Montour High School, he retired. However, in his words he was not ready to “retire or walk around malls in a sweatsuit”.
Although his retirement prohibits him teaching at a public school, he is able to work in a private school like OLSH. His favorite part about OLSH is the students, faculty, and staff. He finds the students to be polite and mature. If he could pick any other subject to teach at OLSH, it would be History, Biology, Anatomy, or Physiology. He also informed me that his first major was Medical technology. Outside of OLSH he likes to golf, fish, and just in general be outside. He also plays professionally as a musician on the weekends. He enjoys all types of music and loves Celine Dion and Luther Vandross.
