Cross Country to States

The OLSH Cross Country teams traveled to Hershey Pennsylvania for the PIAA State Championships. The girls team consisted of Tara Richardson, Autumn Cejer, Erin Halligan, Maria Lohmann, Madison Pashke, Anna Lohmann, Monica Lohmann, and alternate Brianna VanVolkenburg, while Ryder Ballou and Chris Kocent represented the boys.

The girls came home with a new school record, placing 8th overall as a team. Their previous record was ninth, which was achieved last year. Ryder Ballou placed 26th, and Chris Kocent, who was the 5th fastest freshman at the meet, placed 54th. Coach Bob Berg and Coach Gary Carmichael are proud of each and every runner, and they have hopes for an even better future.

The boys and the girls had a unique and exciting season, which was created by the intense work done through the summer months. There were some challenges on the boy’s side with Ryder Ballou, Buck Ziegler, Jordan Hoffman and Patrick Brogan all injured leading to a relatively uneventful mid-season. They did not have an opportunity to run all together for every race. The girls side had barely any injuries at all and ran as a group the entire season. The boys and girls of the 2014 XC teams both tried their best and by the end of the season, the teams really came together to make OLSH proud.
