Since the year 2000, Gilmore Girls has established itself as one of the most watched and enjoyable shows for teens and adults across the world. 

The show, set in a small, Connecticut town named Stars Hollow, focuses on the life of a single mom Lorelai and her teenage daughter Rory. The audience is taken in great detail through their everyday ordeals, which are very realistic. Those who watch the show see Rory slowly grow up, and deeply feel the same emotions that Lorelai feels as this occurs. 

The everyday life of the two is a comfort because of its extreme similarities to the real world. Although Stars Hollow is not a real place, the characters live a life that could very easily be related to. 

While Lorelai and Rory’s genuine mother-daughter bond is clearly the heart of Gilmore Girls, the show also has well thought-out underlying themes that teens watching are likely to understand. Both characters are constantly making mistakes, but the consequences are always clear.
