Jake Johnson: Putting the “Student” in Student Athlete

Jake Johnson is a freshman basketball player who excelled on his 8th grade basketball team. He is excited to be a part of the OLSH freshman basketball team this year. Jake is a highest honor roll student and is also involved in Interact Club. 

Q: What is your favorite class?

A: “At the moment, english is my favorite subject”

Q: What age did you start playing basketball?

A: “I started in kindergarten, so I was about 5 years old.”

Q: Do you or have you played any other sports?

A: “I used to play cross country and soccer in grade school but I play baseball now.”

Q: Were you nervous for tryouts? If so, how did you get over these nerves?

A: “I wasn’t nervous for tryouts.”

Q: How did you prepare for tryouts?

A: “I prepared for tryouts by going to open gyms and practices.”

Q: How do you manage your grades and extracurricular activities?

A: “I always put my grades above sports so I always get schoolwork done first.”

Q: What is your study technique?

A: “I read over everything until I can recite it all back from memory.”
