OLSH Crushes Sto-Rox

In Week 1 of the WPIAL regular season, the OLSH Chargers (1-0) took on the Sto-Rox Vikings (0-1) at Moon High School. After a slow start, the Chargers would go on to wallop the Vikings 46-6.

On the second play of the game, a Sto Rox receiver caught a bubble screen pass and took it 80 yards for a score. The Chargers answered back with six points of their own on a pass from Tyler Bradley to the Jordy Nelson of WPIALs, Andrew Schnarre. Austin Wigley added to the score on the next series with an eight yard touchdown run.

Nearing the last minute of the half, Tyler Bradley bombed a pass to speedy receiver Rico Tate for 26 yards. Tate was hit and the ball fell loose, causing everybody to believe it was a dead ball, except for Luke Safter. Saftner, not hearing a whistle, recovered the ball and ran it in for the Chargers third touchdown. At the end of half, the score was Chargers 19, Vikings 6.

The final two quarters was a strict run game for the Chargers, with sensational blocking from tackle Nico Harken. As for receiving, Schnarre finished with 11 catches and 115 yards overall.

The OLSH defense silenced Sto-Rox who earned no points and only 22 yards for the remainder of the game. Luke Safter would finish the game with two interceptions and defensive lineman, Brock Saftner recorded two sacks and multiple tackles for loss. Wigley also attained a pick in the game.

After beating Sto-Rox for a third year in a row, the Chargers are now 2-0 (1-0 in section) and hope to continue the run for a Championship season. The Chargers’ next game will take place on September 8, at Northgate.
