4 Practical Ways to Handle Stress

Irene Harrell, 2018, Staff

We all get stressed and feel anxious every once in awhile and at times, it can get difficult or confusing how to deal with it. Stress is inevitable and it works in and out of our lives on daily basis. With school, extra curricular activities, sports, etc., life can get busy and hectic in a hurry. Luckily, there are some ways to handle your stress without causing more strain and pain……

1. Figure out where the stress is coming from. By getting specific and pinpointing the stressors in your life, you’re one step closer to getting organized and taking action.
2. Do what you love! What are you passionate about? Think of some fun and fulfilling activities that you always enjoy doing. That can help ease the stress and take your mind off things!
3. Realize there is a difference between worrying and caring. At the end of the day, worrying does no good. It only makes things worse and seem like more of a big problem. When we are caring for someone or something, we do the things that support or advance the best interests of the person or thing that we care about. Instead of worrying about that big test or that time consuming project that’s due in a week, get started studying or working as soon as possible! Plan out your week and use good time management skills. This way, you will not have to cram for a huge test the night before and will not be stressing the entire week about a project you haven’t even began working on yet. It is always a relie to finish a project early and on time!
4. Embrace your mistakes! Nobody is perfect and it is impossible to achieve perfectionism here on earth. Learn from your mistakes and live each and every day to the very fullest! Be adventurous, have fun, and be thankful for all of the blessings you have.
